The
instruction and information given here is general in nature, however
for specific information, you need to visit the respective mission.
Instructions
to Applicants Seeking Entry Visa to China
General
Requirements
To
apply for an entry visa to China, the applicant is required to lodge
with this Consulate no less than the following:
A.
Passport with at least one full blank page;
B. Visa Application Form duly completed;
C. The full name of the applicant should be written in BLOCK letter;
D. One recent passport size photo; and
E. Application fees .

Specific
requirements
A. US passport holders
Those
who hold the United States passports are required to lodge two
completed Visa Application Forms and two recent passport size
photos.
B. Passport validity
(a)
Single entry visa applicants.
The
applicant must have minimum six (6) months passport validity to
apply for a single entry visa.
(b)
Multiple entry visa applicants
The
applicant must have minimum nine (9) months passport validity to
apply for a multiple entry visa valid for six (6) months.
The
applicant must have minimum fifteen (15) months passport validity to
apply for a multiple entry visa valid for twelve (12) months.
C. Tourist Entry Visa
To
apply for a Tourist Entry Visa, the applicant is required to submit
travel itinerary issued by a travel agency, air-ticket booking
details or a letter of introduction issued on a company letterhead.
Those who are to visit related people in China shall tender details
of people they are going to visit including name, address and
telephone number.
D. Business Entry Visa
Those
applying for a Business Entry Visa shall present an original letter
of invitation by a Chinese governmental authority or competent a
Chinese company.
E. Multiple Entry Visa, Work Entry Visa
& Student Entry Visa
Those
applying for a Multiple Entry Visa, Work Entry Visa and Student
Entry Visa shall, in addition to the requirements as specified in Paragraph
2.B.(b) Above, submit an original Visa Notification Letter
issued by authorized authority in China such as Foreign Affairs
Office or Economy and Trade Committee at a municipal level or above.
F. Work Entry Visa
Those
applying for a Work Entry Visa shall, in addition to the foregoing
Paragraph, also provide an original "Work Permit" from the
Labor Department concerned or a "Certificate of the State
Bureau of Foreign Experts" .
G. Student Entry Visa
Those
applying for a Student Entry Visa shall, in addition to Paragraph
3(E), also provide a completed Foreign Student Entry Visa
Application Form (either Form J201 or Form J202).
H. Entry Visa to Hong Kong
Those
applying entry visas to Hong Kong Special Administration
Region(HKSAR) as well as the mainland of China shall, other than
those who are exempt from applying a visa to enter Hong Kong due to
arrangements made between HKSAR and their country, indicate their
intended journey and shall also complete visa application form to
enter HKSAR. Please note that Australian passport holders can enter
Hong Kong Special Administration Region visa-free for three (3)

I. Entry Visa to Tibet
Applicants
seeking entry to Tibet must first obtain approval from the Tourism
Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region of P.R.C. (Tel: +86-891-6834313 or
Fax: +86-891-6834632) before lodging an application in this
Consulate.

There
are visa application fees payable to this Consulate in accordance
with the following table. Please note this Consulate only accept
cash, bank cheque or money order.

Visa
Application Processing Time
Normally,
an entry visa application processing time is four (4) working days.
Additional fees payable for early collection are set out as follows:
For
next day collection, additional fees are $50.00; and For the 3rd day
collection, additional fees are $30.00.

Collection
The
receipt issued by this Consulate upon paying the entry visa
application fees is required for collection.

Return
by Post
Those
who wish to have their passport returned by mail after issuance of
the visa shall enclose a prepaid envelop and additional $10.00 in
their application. Please note that this Consulate will under no
circumstances be responsible for dislocation or mishandling of the
passport by a third party.

Entry
Visa Validity & Stay Duration
A
single or double entry visa is valid for three (3) months upon
issuance. A multiple entry visa is valid for six (6) or twelve (12)
months upon issuance. A tourist entry visa entitles the visa holder
to stay in China for thirty (30) days upon entry, which may be
extended in China.

Notes
A.
There are no automatic rights to be granted an entry visa to China.
Under certain circumstances, an entry visa application can be
declined or an issued visa can be cancelled or revoked.
B.
The application fees will not be refunded if the applicant withdraw
the application after issuance of the receipt.
C.
Unless the designated period of processing has passed this Consulate
will not accept inquiries made on the progress of the visa
application.
