CII
to renew MoU with the China Council for the promotion of
International Trade (CCPIT)
To
provide a continuity to the framework for the sustainable
institutional cooperation between the Business communities of China
and India, CII shall renew its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with China Council For The Promotion Of International Trade (CCPIT),
in Beijing on Tuesday, 25 June 2003. Established in May 1952, China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) comprises
VIPS, enterprises and organizations representing the economic and
trade sectors in China. It is the most important and the largest
institution for the promotion of foreign trade in China.
The
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will be signed (renewed)
by Mr. Wan Jifei, Chairman CCPIT & Mr Anand Mahindra,
President, CII aims to foster mutual understanding and friendship
between the business communities of China and India and to promote
economic relations such as trade, investment, technological
cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier among other
initiatives for promoting China-India trade, CII & CCPIT
have formed a Joint Trade Group with a focus on multilateral
and bilateral issues of interest to both India and China as well as
to ensure that synergies are built between the two nations on
trade and investment. Besides CII has been a host to the
business team from CCPIT, Guangzhou Sub-Council (August
1999), delegation led by Mr Liu Wenjie, Vice Chairman, CCPIT
(November 2002) and Mr Yu Xiasong, Chairman, CCPIT
(January 2002). In May 2002, Mr Ashok Soota, Immediate Past
President, CII visited China as an honoured guest at the the 50th
anniversary celebrations of (CCPIT).
In
its endeavour to further consolidate the working relationship with
the CII, the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is
supporting the following CII initiatives :
Launching
of the website on “India & China: Economic Co-operation”,
during the Prime Minister's visit to China; & “Made in
India” show and a “Hi-Tech” show in Beijing, China in October
later this year.
The
signing (renewal) of the MoU also marks the visit of the CII CEOs
Delegation to China led by Mr Anand Mahindra, President, CII and
coincides with the visit of Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari
Vajpayee to China.
