CHINA WILL WIN THE SPRINT, WE WILL WIN

THE MARATHON: MINISTER KAMAL NATH

Speaking to an audience of more than 500 Swiss businesses at The Forum for International Business 07, international business platform for SMEs, Minister Kamal Nath invited the Swiss businesses to engage more with Young and Credible India. Responding to a question on his views on India vis-à-vis-China, the Minister said China will win the sprint, we will win the marathon. Minister Kamal Nath was speaking at the India Focus Conference being organised as part of the Forum by OSEC, the Swiss Business Network. India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) has been the knowledge partner of OSEC in the organisation of the India Focus Conference.

Referring to the necessity for inclusive growth in India, Minister Kamal Nath called on Swiss business to leverage their skills in technology and innovation to create globally competitive products to build partnerships with India.

On the occasion, Minister Kamal Nath also released the first in the edition of the publication Proven Strategies: Swiss Companies in India, prepared by IMaCs for IBEF, which compiles the business experiences of select Swiss companies in India. Minister Nath presented the first copy of the publication to the Swiss Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard, Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs.

The India Focus Conference comprises focused interactive business sessions on select sectors, wherein an India perspective is being presented by eminent representatives of Indian industry. Dr Surinder Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director, Sona Koyo Steering Systems Limited, and Mr N K Dhand, President, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) & Chairman & Managing Director, Micromatic Grinding Technologies Ltd, will be presenting a perspective on the Automotive and Machinery sectors respectively. Mr Rajeev Sawhney, President, HCL Technologies Europe Ltd, will be speaking at the workshop on Outsourcing whilst Mr Raghuttama Rao, Managing Director, ICRA Management Consulting Services Limited, will be elucidating on business opportunities in the Life Sciences sector. Mr Sudhir Kapadia, Head - Tax and Regulatory Practice, KPMG India, will be engaging with the Swiss business at the workshop on Infrastructure.

The Forum reflects a high interest on the part of the Swiss industry in engaging with India.
